ICPC to Probe Politicians’ Donations
- By Yemi Akinsuyi in Abuja - posted on Tuesday 4th August 2009

Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) may begin to probe questionable donations by politicians and political parties, subject to passage of a bill by the National Assembly.
What the ICPC needs after the bill must have been passed, according to a release signed the Commission's Resident Consultant, Media, Mr. Folu Olamiti, is a sworn affidavit that would give detailed income of politicians, lodgement of questionable amount of money in banks and donations in any guise to political parties.
He said the ICPC Chairman, Justice Emmanuel Ayoola, dropped this hint in Abakaliki during interactive session of the 2009 National Conference of Anti-Corruption Committees for the South-east zone.
Justice Ayoola wanted Nigerians to stand up for integrity, but regretted that most Nigerians think first of themselves, in terms of material acquisition rather than the virtue of patriotism, integrity and selflessness.
He therefore challenged Nigerians of integrity to start exposing the corrupt in their midst and make life difficult for them.
